Dan Bentley has again insisted that he is not at Wolves to make up the numbers, and has his sights set on ousting Jose Sa as the number one.
Bentley came to the club at the start of the year, joining from Bristol City.
He was signed as the club’s new number two, with Matija Sarkic heading out on loan to Stoke City.
Bentley made a strong early impression with his leadership, and has been a vocal presence since his arrival.
He was finally handed his debut against Manchester United in April – and he absolutely wowed that day.
He then played the following match against Everton.
This term, Bentley has only played the Carabao Cup match against Blackpool. But he’s made it clear again that he is gunning for the number one jersey at Molineux…
Dan Bentley really wants to be Wolves’ number one
Bentley has been speaking about his position at Wolves.
There is no doubt in his mind that he’s at the club to compete.

He is not just Jose Sa’s understudy. He is his rival, and he wants to take his place between the sticks.
The 30-year-old said (Express & Star): “I came here with a point to prove and I still have that point to prove.
“I work every day to play, I don’t work to put pressure on other people or make up numbers, I’m here to prove myself.
“I have the bit between my teeth and having a taste of Premier League football last year only made me hungrier.
“I’ll endeavour to work harder than ever and be better than ever, to force my way in as much as possible into the manager’s thinking, for hopefully when he decides I’m in the team, that it’s my shirt to keep.”
Bentley is keen to add that he has the utmost respect for Sa for the job he has done at Wolves since his arrival.
Great mentality from Dan Bentley
Bentley is a very impressive speaker.
Since coming to the club, he has said all the right things and it’s clear he has been an inspired addition to the dressing room. He is already a part of the club’s leadership group.
He conducts himself superbly well and is a great professional.

His mentality is excellent. And it’s exactly that kind of mindset you need from your number two goalkeeper.
They need to believe they can displace the number one that’s ahead of them. And you get the feeling Bentley really believes he can do that.
But Sa has started the season fairly well, so he’ll have to work hard.
