Ruben Neves lauds Dan Bentley after his Premier League and Wolves debut

Wolves captain Ruben Neves has lavished praise on Dan Bentley following his brilliant performance in yesterday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Wanderers fell way short at Old Trafford yesterday.

Julen Lopetegui’s side didn’t really lay a glove on the Red Devils, and had no shots on target in the whole game.

Considering the recent form of David De Gea, that was bitterly disappointing.

The performance was poor in the first-half, with United asking the questions.

Their pressure eventually told, when Anthony Martial scored with a simple tap-in after Wolves were cut through.

A late goal from Alejandro Garnacho sealed the points for the hosts.

Perhaps the only Wolves player to emerge with any credit from yesterday was Bentley, who really did put in an inspired display.

He was making his debut for Wolves and also his first ever appearance in the top-flight.

He’s, quite rightly, been coming in for a lot of praise since the game, and Neves also put in a very nice word for him.

He said (via Wolves official): “He’s an unbelievable guy. Since he came in, he’s worked so hard and we know that he’s a fantastic goalkeeper because we work with him every week and in every training session and he works really hard to help the team.

“I’m really happy for him and I hope he enjoyed the game, of course we lost, but it was a fantastic game from him and there was some super saves in there that stopped some certain goals today. So he’s a fantastic player and fantastic guy as well.

“I’m really happy and proud of his performance today and hope he has lots of success in the future.”

Dan Bentley fully deserves all the plaudits after performance against Manchester United

It was brilliant to see Bentley get a chance and seize it.

He really did have a fantastic game, and he definitely sent a message to Lopetegui.

From Neves’ remarks, it is clear that Bentley has been a wonderful addition for Wolves. By many accounts, he’s a big character and leader, and someone everyone respects.

A big hole was created when John Ruddy left the club, but it seems Bentley has assumed that role really well.
