Dave Edwards reckons Wolves fans have a big soft spot for Adama Traore

Former Molineux midfielder Dave Edwards believes Wolves fans have a ‘huge soft spot’ for Adama Traore.

The winger came in clutch on Saturday, scoring in the 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spaniard scored with around 15 minutes to go at Molineux.

He was on hand to convert after Raul Jimenez saw an effort saved by Fraser Forster.

It was only Traore’s second Premier League goal of the season.

There was something very sweet about Traore’s goal. Obviously, seeing him just score was a great feeling.

But it was actually a tremendous finish, with the star having to react quickly to produce a controlled finish in off the crossbar.

It was perhaps because Traore didn’t have much time to think about it that he was able to score.

Wolves fans know Traore is far from prolific in front of goal. But they also know how exhilarating he is with his pace, power and unpredicatability.

Traore came in for praise from Edwards in his latest Express & Star column. He adds that he really wants to see him stay at the club beyond the summer.

He said of him: “A terrific goal with important contributions from Moutinho and Jimenez and then the composure Traore showed to side-foot it rather than lashing it was superb.

“I think all Wolves fans have a huge soft spot for Traore because of what he brings.

“He gets fans off their seats whether he is playing well or not.

“Fans pay good money to go and watch football, and he gives good value however he is performing.

“What he offers is something no-one else can do with that raw pace to change the game – I would really like him to still be at Molineux next season.”

Many Wolves fans would love to see Adama Traore stay at the club, but it doesn’t feel likely at the moment

Traore is such a unique player and it has been a pleasure to watch him in a Wolves shirt at times.

The £18 million star’s performance against Tottenham was a reminder of what he can potentially bring to any game he plays in.

His uniqueness does make it very easy to have a soft spot for him.

Many Wolves fans will likely share Edwards; view of wanting him to stay at the club beyond the summer.

But he has supposedly had offers on the table for some time. The fact he hasn’t extended by now is concerning.
