Dave Edwards hails Craig Dawson and names three Wolves players he's helped

Former Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards has hailed Craig Dawson as a ‘huge’ addition for Wolves, following another tremendous performance.

Dawson started again for Wanderers in the 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

He started the game in a partnership with Max Kilman. That has the been the case since Dawson made his debut against Liverpool at the start of February.

But at half-time, Julen Lopetegui decided to switch things up and add Nathan Collins to make a back three.

Dawson had been solid in the game alongside Kilman.

And he maintained his level through to the end of the match.

Dawson has been a remarkable signing for Wolves so far.

It is a close run thing regarding who has been better out of him and Mario Lemina. But Dawson has undoubtedly had a colossal impact, and Edwards has written a few words about him in his latest Express & Star column.

He said: “The addition of Craig Dawson has been huge, not only for his impact on the pitch, but the effect he has had on the others around him by talking and organising.”

Edwards then suggested a few Wolves players who appears to have really benefited from the 32-year-old’s arrival.

“I think you have seen that with the likes of Nelson Semedo and Max Kilman – it was also nice to see Nathan Collins come on at half-time and play alongside him in a back three,” he added.

Craig Dawson has been a revelation for Wolves – the backline looks solid again

As Edwards says, the addition of Dawson has been huge for Wolves.

His £3.3 million transfer in January was fairly low key. But he without doubt had one of the biggest impacts of the six mid-season additions. Pedro Neto summed it up perfectly the other day as he replied ‘What a player’ to the centre-back on Twitter.

Not only has he tightened things up at the back, he has also improve those around him, as Edwards suggests.

That was the hope when he came in, and he has well and truly delivered so far.

Wolves just look much more organised and tougher to breach. With Dawson in the backline, it feels as though Wolves have a much better chance of staying in games to potentially then go and win them.
