Wolves’ Under-23 side have been eliminated from the Papa John’s Trophy after a 3-0 defeat to Crewe Alexandra.
A Mikael Mandron double in the first half and a deflected Joe Robbins strike after the interval downed James Collins’ men.
That means Wolves sit third in their group with all three of their matches played, having picked up just two points.
There were not too many positives to take from the night, but one was the return of Hugo Bueno.
He played the last 25 minutes of the match as a substitute, making his return from injury.
John Ruddy also got a game between the sticks to add some experience to the young side.
Bueno posted on Instagram before the game about the prospect of playing, with a message which read: ‘3 months later’.

He recently returned to training with the first team and has now ramped up his recovery.
Bueno is a full-back who can play all down the left flank, and may look to battle for a spot in Bruno Lage’s plans before the end of the season.
It was a disappointing night for the young Wolves side but a good one for Bueno personally.
