Willy Boly is set to miss the rest of 2021 for Wolves, Bruno Lage has said.

The Molineux boss has been speaking in his press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s Premier League game against Burnley.

News broke last week that Boly and suffered another injury. It was said to be ‘muscular’.

He was not in the matchday squad to face Norwich City, and fans have been waiting for news of the Ivory Coast international.

Well Lage has now given an update on Boly, and it’s not good.

He was asked about Jonny, Pedro Neto and Yerson Mosquera, and replied (as quoted by The Athletic’s Tim Spiers): “Not in December. And I’ll put Boly also in that list, he’s completely out of our plans.”

That is a big blow for Wolves, as games are about to come thick and fast over the festive period.

After Burnley, the club have to play Liverpool, Manchester City, Brighton, Chelsea, Watford and Arsenal.

Boly hasn’t actually featured at all in the Premier League so far this season and Wolves have managed pretty well without him.

But it is still a very frustrating update given the size of Wolves’ squad.

Willy Boly injury update might force Fosun’s hand

The update from Lage about Boly – who could potentially now miss AFCON – is a big concern.

The fact Wolves won’t be able to count on him over the festive period is far from ideal.

Romain Saiss, Max Kilman and Conor Coady have done really well on the whole so far.

But the fact none of them can now be rotated is very worrying indeed.

It remains to be seen how long Boly will actually be out for, but surely this has to force Fosun to get busy in the transfer market.
