Bruno Lage comments on Willy Boly after Wolves draw with Chelsea

Bruno Lage has responded when asked why Willy Boly was not on the bench yesterday for Wolves against Chelsea.

The team played out a 0-0 draw with Thomas Tuchel’s side, recording their seventh clean sheet of the Premier League season.

Wolves were good in the first-half, but poor in the second.

Fortunately, Wolves were able to withstand Chelsea pressure in the second-half, with the defence again tight and organised.

Max Kilman, Romain Saiss and Conor Coady were all solid, as was goalkeeper Jose Sa in behind.

Ahead of the game, Molineux legend Steve Bull had insisted it was important for Lage to keep that quartet together.

There doesn’t appear to be any danger of them getting split up, at least before AFCON anyway.

Interestingly, centre-back Willy Boly was mysteriously absent from the matchday squad yesterday.

he would be the only possible change to the backline just at the moment.

But yesterday he was not amongst the substitutes, and Lage spoke about the 30-year-old after the game.

He said: “Every time I try to answer all the questions but I think I will give more time and space and then we can say something more clear about Boly.

“What I know is that I’m struggling since the first day with just three central defenders and they are doing a fantastic job.”

Boly has not yet made an appearance for Wolves in the Premier League.

The star came into the season with a hamstring injury he picked up in pre-season.

The form of the other players has seen him unable to break into the team. It’s difficult to see him having much of an impact for Wolves this season as things currently stand.

The beginning of the end for Willy Boly at Wolves as he misses Chelsea clash?

It was a fairly coy response from Lage about Boly after the player missed the game with Chelsea.

Hopefully the player has not suffered yet another setback.

It really has been a nightmare year for the Ivory Coast international. At one point, most Wolves fans saw him as the club’s best defender.

Many people are now thinking that title belongs to rising star Kilman.

It remains to be seen if Boly will be pictured in training or make the bench in coming games for Wolves.
