Some Birmingham City fans are pleading for Wolves youngster Dion Sanderson to stay at the club beyond his loan move.
The central defender was in Championship action for the Blues on Tuesday night, as was Matija Sarkic.
He lined up for his 11th appearance of the season against Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.
Sanderson started the 2021/22 campaign injured, and didn’t come into the team until mid-September.
It was a back issue, that actually ruled him out of Sunderland’s last few games of 2020/21.
Sanderson is over that now, and has come into the Birmingham team and done fantastically well so far.
The 21-year-old, who signed a contract extension with Wolves before leving for his loan, is a regular for Lee Bowyer.
So far in 2021/22, he has been a part of five clean sheets in 10 Championship outings. And the team have conceded just seven times.
Fans hailed his solidity after his performance against Coventry, and some supporters really want him to become a permanent player at St Andrew’s.
Birmingham fans send messages to Dion Sanderson
Some Birmingham fans have been responding to a tweet that Sanderson wrote on Twitter.
He said: “Not the prettiest game but a good point and clean sheet onto Saturday. Safe travels blue noses.”
Blues supporters to the opportunity to plead with the player for him to stay with him beyond his loan.
Whether that happens next summer remains to be seen.
But should he carry on playing like this, Bruno Lage will surely want to take a look at him.
He’s been building his experience, and might well be ready for Premier League football next year.
Rock solid 💙🪨
