Andy Thompson makes Max Kilman claim after Wolves star makes 100th appearance

Andy Thompson has said Max Kilman looked ‘a completely different player’ for Wolves on Saturday after being more positive on the ball.

Wanderers ran out 1-0 winners against Chelsea at Molineux.

It was one of Wolves’ best performances of the season so far, with Julen Lopetegui’s side far superior to the Blues.

Wolves were fully worth the three points, and the winning goal from Matheus Nunes is right up there with the best in the Premier League this season.

Wolves dominated Chelsea in the first-half.

The visitors improved after the break and saw more of the ball, which required Wolves to be solid defensively.

And they were just that, with Nelson Semedo, Kilman, Craig Dawson and Toti Gomes all brilliant.

Kilman was making his 100th appearance for Wolves, wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of the suspended Ruben Neves.

Kilman was superb in the backline, and former Molineux defender Thompson believes that he threw back to his earlier days in the Wolves team.

He said on Saturday (Wolves official): “He’s got quality on the ball and can pass at various ranges, but he has lost that positivity going forward. He had that when he first came into the side and I don’t know why he’s lost it. He’d always looking at putting the ball over the top, putting that diagonal ball or little pass into midfield.

“Today, he’s been totally positive and he looks a completely different player when he does that. He’s got that in his locker with the way that he plays.”

Thompson recently stated that he felt Kilman had lost his confidence in a Wolves shirt.

Max Kilman is back for Wolves, but he must maintain his form now

Kilman had lost his way in the early stages of the current season.

But he is most definitely back now, and his recent improvements may well be in-part down to the addition of Dawson to the backline.

It was a cracking display from the 25-year-old on Saturday.

He defended solidly, but used the ball so much better than in previous weeks.

His range is fantastic, and it was good to see him using it again. One wonders if Lopetegui has had a word with him about him being the main man to build attacks from back.
