Premier League legend Alan Shearer has called Joao Moutinho’s performance against Brentford ‘outstanding’.
The midfielder scored his second goal of the season against the Bees on Saturday.
It came just a couple of weeks on from his first against Manchester United.
He took it really well at the Brentford Community Stadium, playing a one-two with Nelson Semedo before finishing with the outside of his foot into the far corner.
The 35-year-old is really defying his advancing years and is currently one of Wolves’ most important players.
Following his display against Brentford, the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer Shearer selected the maestro in his Team of the Week.
He said of Moutinho (via Premier League): “Scored a great goal and then set up Ruben Neves’ winner in an outstanding performance in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2-1 victory at Brentford.”
Amusingly with his strike against Brentford, Moutinho is now enjoying his best goalscoring season at Wolves since joining the club in 2018.
He is certainly not known for his prowess.
However when they do go in from Moutinho, they tend to be a bit special.

His performance against Brentford was indeed outstanding, as Shearer says.
He really is enjoying a fine campaign and it is brilliant to see given a lot of people thought he was finished after a poor 2020/21.
He was regularly criticised but to his credit, he has bounced back in a major way.
And he’s been playing to a high standard pretty much all season, which is so impressive given he is mid-thirties
