Danny Murphy has praised Joao Moutinho after the midfielder starred against Brentford for Wolves.
Wanderers continued their great form of late by beating the Bees 2-1 away from home.
It was an incident-packed game, meaning there wasn’t much fluidity to the match at the Brentford Community Stadium.
But Wolves were able to find a way to win, and it was Moutinho who got the ball rolling for the visitors.
He exchanged passes with Nelson Semedo, before firing in a beautiful shot with the outside of his foot into the far corner.
That was Moutinho’s second strike of the campaign, his first coming only a few weeks ago in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United.
The star is definitely back to his best for Wolves, after enduring a tough previous season.
He has quite rightly been lauded for his contributions on Saturday. And today, Murphy was signing his praises on talkSPORT.
He said: “35 years of age. I think he’s missed five games in three and a half years which is some going. That’s durability for you. He’s such an intelligent footballer.
“His goal, what a goal… 35 years of age, to be playing so consistently at that age in the Premier League week in week out, it says a lot about the way he looks after himself. His goal was beautiful, as was his performance.”
Joao Moutinho deserves all the praise he gets after Brentford performance
Murphy is spot on with his comments about Moutinho.
His durability really is one of the most impressive things about him. And then of course, his intelligence is probably the envy of every player at Wolves.
It is so good to see him thriving again after he lost his mojo last season.
He clearly still has so much to offer. And it would be absolutely no surprise if there was an announcement soon about him extending his contract at Molineux.
Lage has previously said Moutinho feels considerably younger that his actual age. And right now, he is definitely playing like it.
