Wolves produced an abject display against Brighton, and Toti Gomes’ admission just about sums everything up.
After drawing with Sunderland the weekend before, fans wanted to see a bit of fight against Brighton.
For many that’s the only thing that really matters now, because clearly the quality is just not there.
What do you make of Rob Edwards’ comments about the players after Wolves’ defeat to Brighton? 👀
Refreshingly honest or uncalled for? 😬
But it seems there is also no fight, with Rob Edwards actually calling the players out after the 3-0 defeat yesterday.
The manager has previously told us that there is fight within that dressing room.
But the nature of yesterday’s defeat strongly suggested otherwise.
It was just so easy for Brighton, and what Toti Gomes said after the game was totally damning.
Toti Gomes admits Brighton ‘wanted it more’ than Wolves

After the game, Wolves club captain Toti Gomes admitted that Brighton simply wanted to win more.
He said (via Wolves official): “It feels like it’s a mix of everything, not just our part, but from them as well. They were coming with everything.
“They scored the first goal and wanted it more than us. We were just defending, we tried to have a lot of men in the area to defend those crosses that they put into the box. The first minutes cost us a lot through the rest of the game.”
The admission will not come as too much of a surprise to most fans, as the players have often given this impression.
But it’s quite bleak to hear the captain actually say it out loud.
With Wolves not having the right level of quality this season, it was absolutely paramount that this group of players showed fight and worked their socks off at every turn.
Doing those things continually might have seen them make a better fist of staying up.
But far too many times, Wolves players have been found wanting. In tough moments, they haven’t wanted to know, and shown no belief that games can be rescued.
Toti also apologised to the travelling fans, which many are unlikely to accept.

And after the players produced that kind of performance at the Amex, it’s completely understandable that many won’t.
This summer, Wolves will rebuild to prepare for life in the Championship.
What is absolutely paramount is that Wolves litter their dressing room with strong characters. Clearly given what’s happened this season, it will be just as important to sign leaders as well as good footballers.
