Wolves are looking to respond to three straight defeats, with Sunderland the opponents at Molineux on Saturday.

The season is almost over and Wolves’ fate has already been sealed.

Wolves fans, can you see us coming up with something against Sunderland at Molineux? 🤔

But it’s still important for Wolves to finish the season strongly. The Old Gold owe that to their incredible supporters, and can even still finish above Burnley which would at least be something.

Rob Edwards has insisted the players are still fighting and won’t down tools.

It’s Sunderland up next for Wolves, and here’s a starting XI Edwards ought to consider.

At his press conference, Edwards said that Jose Sa is struggling with an injury and is a doubt for the next two games.

He said (via Wolves official): “Then Sa is a slight doubt again, but not with the issue that he had on his shoulder and his back, it’s more his ankle, so we’re going to try and get that right. There’s a chance that he misses potentially the next game or two, because we’re really keen to try and get that right. He’s been playing through quite a bit of pain for a while now, so I think it’s the right thing to do.”

With Sam Johnstone also out injured, that will mean Dan Bentley in goal.

Ladislav Krejci won’t make this game, with Edwards saying: “Krejci is progressing well, but he won’t be right for tomorrow. We’re hopeful for the week after. He joined in parts of training today, but obviously it’s too soon to come into it.”

Wolves fans, thoughts on this starting to face Sunderland? 🤔

Yerson Mosquera returns from suspension though, so he’ll surely come back in. Santiago Bueno and Toti Gomes are likely to complete the defence, which rather picks itself this weekend.

Pedro Lima and Hugo Bueno should keep their places as wing-backs.

In midfield, there’s no reason for Joao Gomes and Andre not to start – as these are crucial weeks now for Wolves to have them in the shop window ahead of the summer.

Mateus Mane should probably also keep his place, but Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is an option to replace Rodrigo Gomes, who was ineffective playing from the start against Tottenham Hotspur.

Adam Armstrong should lead the line and hopefully he’ll get better service with Mane and Bellegarde as the two 10s supporting.

Wolves typically finish Premier League seasons quite poorly, but it’s paramount that this doesn’t happen again this time.

The notion that these final weeks are meaningless just because relegation has already been confirmed is just not right, and these players need to give the fans a reason to even come back next term.
