Wolves would be fools to sell Nathan Collins amid Brentford interest

Wolves need to make player sales this summer – and amid the concerning situation, Nathan Collins has now been linked with a move to Brentford.

The Republic of Ireland centre-back has just finished his first season at Molineux.

Collins joined Wolves for £20.5 million last summer. Fans had been crying out for a new central defender, and many were pleased with the 22-year-old’s signing.

Collins started the season as a regular in the Wolves backline.

He played alongside Max Kilman and the pair initially looked very strong together.

But the season went on and the duo started to struggle, as did Wolves as a collective.

Eventually, Collins lost his place in the starting XI to January signing Craig Dawson, who has been a brilliant addition for Wanderers.

And now, Collins is being linked with an early exit from Molineux.

Brentford interested in signing Nathan Collins from Wolves this summer

The Daily Mail are reporting that Brentford are keen on Collins.

Wolves would be hopeful of making a profit on the youngster, whom they landed from Burnley.

It is stated Brentford value Collins around the £20 million mark.

Wolves are looking to offload players this summer in a bid to balance the books. But Collins is not thought to be a player the club are actively looking to sell.

Collins fellow centre-back Kilman has also been linked with an exit.

Apparently, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are keen on the 26-year-old.

Wolves would be fools to sell Nathan Collins just one year after buying him

It is accepted now that Wolves are going to have to sell players this summer.

But offloading Collins should not be entertained. Or at least, it should not be entertained based on what the Daily Mail have reported.

Collins is worth much more than £20 million.

He may not have had the best debut season at Wolves. But you can clearly see he has big potential.

He’s got all the attributes to become a top Premier League centre-half one day.

Former technical director Scott Sellars said when he signed (via Wolves official): “He’s a very talented young man – he’s only 21, has played international football and had a good season last year with Burnley. We think we’ve signed a player with a lot of potential, as well as being a very good footballer now.”

It just would not make sense to sell Collins to Brentford, who are a team that are kind of a similar level to Wolves at the moment.

If this was a top Premier League club showing interest, then it would make more sense.

But even then, Wolves shouldn’t be selling Collins. Not after just one year of having him.

He’s a player who demands a lot from himself. He’ll definitely improve as he gets older.

If Wolves are needing to make sales, then Kilman should be sold before Collins. Collins has a higher ceiling, but Kilman could fetch a higher price right now.
