Wolves will now send scouts to watch £12m player who Nuno Espirito Santo once called ‘fantastic’

Vitor Pereira bolstered his Wolves squad during the transfer window, though the Portuguese boss is now looking ahead to the summer.

A slow January transfer window for Wolves ended with success as Vitor Pereira captured three new players, including Emmanuel Agbadou, Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi.

It’s been an excellent start to life at Molineux for Agbadou, who earned the January Player of the Month award while Munetsi made his debut against Blackburn Rovers.

Pereira prioritised defensive strength throughout the past month but fresh reports now suggest another centre-back could be signed in the summer, especially after Wolves failed to sign Thomas Kristensen on deadline day.

Wolves will send scouts to watch Japhet Tanganga in the FA Cup

Wolves were linked with Japhet Tanganga in January and was one of many players added to their transfer wishlist.

Unfortunately, Millwall weren’t prepared to sell Tanganga, seeing the former Tottenham man as an influential figure in their back line.

The 25-year-old has flourished alongside Jake Cooper this term following his permanent switch to East London but his ultimate dream is to return to the Premier League.

He could realise that ambition by signing for Wolves in the summer, with GIVEMESPORT reporting that the Wanderers will send scouts to watch the defender in Millwall’s FA Cup clash against Crystal Palace.

It is claimed that Wolves are joined in the race to sign Tanganga by Southampton, Ipswich Town and West Ham, with the Lions valuing their prized asset at £12 million, according to The Express.

What Nuno Espirito Santo once said about Tanganga

Wolves will have to give assurances over regular game time for Tanganga, as he isn’t prepared to join the club for a sporadic role.

Former manager Nuno Espirito Santo has previously endorsed the Englishman during his time in charge of Tottenham, praising his performance in the win over Manchester City in August 2021.

“They [Tangaga and Skipp] did well,” Nuno said. “When they started the season, they were in the processes of recovering from injury, but they had a good foundation in terms of fitness and physicality.

“With the work they did with sports science, I think they were able to keep on growing and we can see they are fit and stronger and faster.

“All the team did very well but Japhet was huge today. He faced too many one on ones today against fantastic players and he dealt fantastically with the situation.”

Tanganga has inarguably developed into an even better defender since Nuno made those comments, excelling with his physical and technical attributes in the Championship, and looking seemingly ready for a top-flight return.
