Wolves were £3m away from signing ‘unbelievable’ player, now he could join PL rivals

Wolves’ plans to sign Alex Scott could soon be in jeopardy, with Bournemouth holding fresh talks with Bristol City over the youngster.

Scott is thought to be Wanderers’ top target this summer.

The club have been on him since the start of the year, having spoke to Bristol City about a potential deal in the winter window last season.

The asking price was deemed too high then.

But that asking price has not really changed this summer.

That’s not good for Wolves, who of course are struggling to make signings at the moment due to FFP concerns.

And this situation could cost them Scott, who is greatly admired by Bournemouth.

Bournemouth in talks over £25 million deal for Wolves target Alex Scott

According to the Daily Mail, Bournemouth have now reopened talks with Bristol City over Scott over a £25 million deal.

The Cherries, like Wolves, have seen bids knocked back.

Wolves’ last bid for the player was £22 million.

But it looks as though the south coast club now are willing to now make an offer that is much closer to City’s asking price.

That is thought to be £25 million. Even if Robins manager Nigel Pearson does think he’s worth nearer to £30 million.

This now puts pressure on Wolves.

Seemingly, the club are in no position right now to be splashing £25 million on one player. As much as they really like Scott.

Potentially the only way for the club to land Scott is if more sales are made.

Fresh Bournemouth talks are a blow for Wolves

This is a frustrating update on the Alex Scott situation.

He is the player most fans want to see Wolves sign this summer, and it would be a tough one to take if he joined Bournemouth.

He is one of the most exciting young players outside the Premier League and would be a brilliant addition for most top-flight clubs. Pep Guardiola, of course, called him ‘an unbelievable player’ earlier this year.

Wolves could really do with a creative midfielder given there are a number of ball-winners like Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes and Boubacar Traore.

But for now, it looks like Wolves are really up against it to sign Scott.
