Wolves want to sign more players like Joao Gomes moving forwards

Wolves will reportedly place a focus on signing young players that are ‘unpolished gems’ like Joao Gomes.

Wanderers are facing a big summer, following claims there are concerns about FFP.

Having spent almost £200 million last season, Wolves now need to balance the books.

The club will not be making big signings like Matheus Cunha and Matheus Nunes, both of whom arrived at Molineux for around £40 million each.

Apparently, Wolves will be looking to sign players in the £8-15 million range.

Julen Lopetegui has spent the last few weeks reflecting on the situation. And it is now being reported the Spaniard accepts the situation, and is ready to work with restrictions on spending.

It is stated that Joao Gomes, who signed for the club for £15 million in January, is the perfect profile of player they will go after.

Gomes, 22, has come to Wolves and already made a big impression. The Brazilian looks to be a brilliant prospect, and many are expecting him to become a staple of the midfield like Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves were.

He’s put in some really good performances so far, and has very much endeared himself to the Molineux faithful.

He has struck up a fine partnership with Mario Lemina, who recently branded the youngster ‘quality’ and said he was like a younger version of himself.

Wolves now want to add more Joao Gomes types to the squad this summer.

Several youngsters have been linked with the club in recent times, such as Dario Osorio, Alex Scott, Fabio Carvalho and most recently, Samuel Iling-Junior.

Wolves recruitment team will have to be very savvy this summer, as club target young player

The news about Wolves’ financial problems is obviously concerning.

But there is still reason for optimism.

Lopetegui looks like he will stay now, which is obviously great news. He’s shown his quality as a manager since arrived in late 2022.

Wolves can still have a good summer despite being restricted with their spending.

Just look at Brighton. The Seagulls have never had massive spending sprees, and yet they’ve still ended up with a cracking squad that is packed with young talent.

This summer will be a test for the recruitment team.

The right players are out there for Wolves. It’s just about finding them and convincing them to come.
