Wolves update issued on attacking midfielder search as Vitor Pereira seeks reinforcements

Wolves have work to do in the transfer window before the September 1st deadline, and reports suggest they are still interested in a youngster who has started the season well.

The need for further attacking additions has been staring Vitor Pereira in the face all summer.

Wolves failed to win a single pre-season fixture and have kicked off the Premier League season with a scoreless defeat at the hands of Manchester City.

They have been linked to an exciting attacking midfielder since early this summer, and a fresh update suggests that interest hasn’t died down, but there is a caveat.

Wolves want Getafe’s Christantus Uche but not before reinforcing other positions

Transfer correspondent Ben Jacobs took to X to provide an update on Wolves’ pursuit of 22-year-old attacking midfielder, Christantus Uche.

Uche did not participate in Getafe’s pre-season training camp earlier this summer, leading many to believe a move away was on the cards.

But he has returned to the fold and managed a goal and an assist in Getafe’s La Liga season opener at the weekend.

Wolves admire Uche, but at this moment in time, no progress is being made as they are focused on other positions. But that may not be the best idea.

Christantus Uche is admired by many Premier League clubs

Uche has caught the eye of a number of Premier League clubs, with Chelsea, Brentford and Leeds all interested in the Nigerian.

Wolves have every right to prioritise other positions, but this highly touted target may not be on the market by the time they decide to shift their focus.

Uche will be available for a very reasonable fee, with the suggested figure being £17 million, or a maximum of £21 million, which is the reported value of his release clause.

It’s clear Wolves need more of a spark in attack, and Getafe’s young star can provide exactly that. No one would disagree with the need for another defender and a midfield addition, but that shouldn’t mean they fall out of the race for this exciting talent.
