Wolves have reportedly already seen a couple of bids knocked back for players in the January transfer window.
Wanderers are looking to bring in new faces this month, but don’t have too much money to spend as the club seek to stay within Profit and Sustainability rules.
Gary O’Neil wants a new striker at Molineux, with Fabio Silva already leaving for Rangers and Sasa Kalajdzic potentially departing on loan.
Sky Sports journalist and Wolves fan Johnny Phillips last night made a few claims about Wolves with the winter window now open…
Wolves already busy this month with a couple of bids ‘knocked back’

We are only two days into 2024 but Wolves have been active so far.
Phillips last night made some comments on X about what the feeling is at Wolves regarding the current window, and what has happened so far.
Phillips says that Silva’s exit from Molineux is a ‘relief for all parties’, with the Portuguese youngster barely featuring in the first half of 2023/24.
On the striker front, Phillips said that O’Neil is very keen to get a new number nine in and apparently, he has actually already seen a couple of bids rejected for players, despite the window being less than a day old (at the time of Phillips’ messages). He stops short of saying who those bids were for though.
The club are ‘still working on getting the right profile of player in’ and apparently any new signing would be required to make an immediate impact. So that would suggest Wolves are looking at players who are a bit older than Silva with more experience.
Encouraging comments
Phillips’ X thread makes for encouraging reading. It very much sounds as though Wolves are being active even though the window has only just opened.
It’s going to be very interesting to see who O’Neil wants to bring in in his first full window as manager.
Obviously, there is not a huge amount of money to work with given the financial situation, which was eased by the end of the summer window but will still prove restrictive this month for Wolves.
But there seems to be a desire to get new faces in, especially a striker. Clearly, O’Neil did not really rate Silva and also doesn’t seem to fancy Kalajdzic.
Perhaps we will see Wolves make a fresh attempt to sign Southampton striker Che Adams, who is someone with Premier League experience.
