Wolves fans have a reason to celebrate the New Year as the January transfer window is finally open.
Wolves are expected to be one of the more busier Premier League clubs this month as Vitor Pereira aims to stamp his authority on the squad.
The Old Gold are mainly targeting defensive strength, especially following the injury to Toti Gomes, with Wolves looking to sign two defenders.
Pereira has inherited a squad which largely struggled defensively under Gary O’Neil. There have been some improvements under the Portuguese however, they still have the division’s joint-worst defence with 42 goals conceded.

With the window now open for business, Molineux News rounds up the latest transfer updates circulating Wolves at the start of this month.

Wolves enter talks with top target Kevin Danso
To kick things off this winter, Wolves have opened talks with Kevin Danso, the Lens defender who caught the eye playing for Austria at Euro 2024.
Wolves eyed a transfer for Danso during the summer as they attempted to replace Max Kilman after he left for West Ham.
However, a move for the 26-year-old never materialised and now it looks as though Danso is Wolves’ top defensive target, according to journalist Liam Keen.
This is promising news for Wanderers supporters, who will hope to see players brought through the door at Molineux swiftly.
Sean Longstaff transfer eyed by Wolves and Everton
A midfielder wasn’t on O’Neil’s agenda when he was in charge of Wolves but that could change with Pereira now in the dugout.
News emerged on Tuesday that Wolves are interested in Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff alongside Premier League rivals Leicester City and Everton.
Longstaff is a midfield dynamo who has fallen down the pecking order at St James’ Park with Eddie Howe preferring a trio of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali.
Howe has made the 27-year-old available for a transfer this month in an attempt to build up some funds to do business themselves.
Vitor Pereira could bid for Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga
Wolves rivals have often unearthed some gems from the Championship in recent years and they could follow suit in the January transfer window.
It was reported this week that Wolves are readying an offer for the ‘amazing’ Japhet Tanganga from Millwall, who is starring for the Lions this term.
Tanganga, who is a product of the Tottenham academy and rated highly by Jose Mourinho, would be attracted by the prospect of Premier League football.
Millwall aren’t understandably keen on the idea of selling the 25-year-old however, it remains to be seen what sort of asking price they’d be looking for.
Wolves and Everton are keeping tabs on Tim Kleindienst
A central midfielder and centre-back aren’t the only two positions Pereira is targeting this winter.
Wolves are also keeping tabs on Tim Kleindienst, the Borussia Monchengladbach forward who has plundered nine goals and five assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances this term.
Everton have joined the Old Gold in showing interest in the 29-year-old but a deal already looks complicated as Gladbach are determined to hold on to the player beyond January.
Kleindienst – who has fired his side into eighth position in the table – would be a promising option to challenge Jorgen Strand Larsen.
