Wolves transfer round-up – Kevin Danso latest, another club want Mario Lemina and more

It’s approaching the end of the January transfer window and so far, Wolves have only added one new player to their squad.

Emmanuel Agbadou arrived from Reims earlier this month and has settled into life at Molineux superbly since making the switch.

With Wolves embroiled in a relegation battle, signing just Agbadou won’t be enough to save them, and Vitor Pereira therefore wants two new players at the very least.

One of those is expected to be a defender while the other position on their radar is a midfielder, especially if Mario Lemina leaves the club.

So, with that said, here’s the latest transfer news coming out of Molineux.

Aston Villa join Wolves in race to sign Kevin Danso

Signing another defender in the next five days is the priority of Pereira, and RC Lens centre-back Kevin Danso is firmly at the top of their shopping list.

Wolves have seen two bids rejected for Danso this week, with the Old Gold expected to come in with a third offer very soon.

That being said, they aren’t the only ones pursuing the Austrian international, as Aston Villa have shown an interest in Danso who boasts a £25 million valuation.

Villa have already agreed to sign Wolves target Axel Disasi in the past few days and losing out on another would be a crushing blow.

Ajax want to recall Carlos Forbs

It isn’t just incomings that have concerned Wolves this month as several departures could follow, including winger Carlos Forbs.

Gary O’Neil only signed the 20-year-old on loan from Ajax in the summer but having played just 259 minutes in all competitions, he could see his loan get cut short.

Ajax reportedly want to recall Forbs from his loan, potentially freeing up a space for Pereira to sign someone else, while ending an underwhelming spell.

Leicester have the edge in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain race

Wolves have been linked with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the former Liverpool midfielder currently playing his football with Turkish side Besiktas.

However, the Old Gold aren’t alone in their interest in the 31-year-old, who is also wanted by Premier League relegation rivals Leicester City.

According to reports on Tuesday, Leicester could hold the upper hand in the race for Oxlade-Chamberlain due to a Manchester United connection.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now in charge of Besiktas and former teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy is overseeing the Foxes, meaning the pair’s relationship could decide where Oxlade-Chamberlain goes.

Torino want to sign Mario Lemina

Speculation over the future of midfielder Lemina has dominated this transfer window, with the 31-year-old seeing his contract run down in June.

First, it was Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab who were the front runners to sign the Gabon international but now another challenger has entered the picture.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Torino want to sign Lemina, in a move which could see the Wolves outcast return to Italy after previously playing for Juventus.
