Wolves transfer round-up – Emmanuel Agbadou signs, EFL club want forgotten star and more

The January transfer window is heating up as Wolves complete some important business.

Wolves are currently level on points with the bottom three in the Premier League after suffering a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Monday night.

This weekend, Wolves will travel to Bristol City in the FA Cup, who are eighth in the Championship and unbeaten in six of their last seven games.

The FA Cup will act as a welcome distraction to the league and Vitor Pereira will hope to lead the Old Gold on a cup run after they reached the quarter-finals last year.

It isn’t just action on the pitch that concerns the Portuguese as Wolves want a successful transfer window. Here are the latest stories out of Molineux.

Wolves confirm the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou

Supporters had reason to celebrate on Thursday as Wolves confirmed the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou from Ligue 1 side Reims.

Agbadou, who signed a 4.5-year contract at Molineux, could be in contention to start against Bristol City this weekend after completing his £15m transfer.

Pereira was delighted with Agbadou’s arrival, and the 27-year-old should instantly improve the division’s worst defence with 45 goals conceded in 20 games.

Swansea City want to sign Luke Cundle

Luke Cundle is one player who could exit the club this month. The 22-year-old is yet to feature this term and isn’t part of Pereira’s first-team plans.

As a result, Championship clubs have shown an interest in Cundle, who sees his contract in Wolverhampton expire in 2026.

Now, it has emerged Swansea want to sign Cundle, with the midfielder previously spending time on loan at the Liberty Stadium in 2022/23.

Alex Neil addresses Japhet Tanganga Wolves rumours

Despite confirming the capture of Agbadou, Wolves want to sign another defender and Pereira has looked at one Championship star.

It emerged at the end of December that Wolves were linked with Japhet Tanganga, the 25-year-old centre-back who signed for Millwall in the summer from Tottenham.

Addressing the media on Thursday, Millwall boss Alex Neil played down the Tanganga to Wolves rumours but didn’t rule out a move for the Englishman.

“But it is just speculation,” Neil said. “I’m not going to say that to you (that he will be staying) and Japhet is going to leave tomorrow. But I’m unaware of anything apart from probably paper talk surrounding Japhet.

Wolves target Vitor Reis agrees personal terms with Man City

Molineux News reported recently that Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis was of interest to Wolves.

The 18-year-old has attracted serious attention in recent times, including from the likes of Real Madrid, Brighton and Arsenal, making a deal increasingly difficult to complete.

Now, it looks as though the Brazilian could be heading to the Premier League but not with Wolves after Man City agreed ‘personal terms’ with Reis ahead of a proposed £29m switch.

This comes after Wolves target Abdukodir Khusanov was reportedly closing in on a move to Man City, dealing a huge blow to the Old Gold.
