Wolves transfer news: Wolves interested in Sergio Herrera

Wolves are reportedly showing interest in Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.

Noticias Navarra reported yesterday that the 29-year-old is on the radar of Julen Lopetegui ahead of the summer.

It is stated that he is ‘very much to the taste’ of the former Sevilla head coach.

And that is about as much information as is provided.

Some Wolves fans have been wondering whether Lopetegui will want to raid the market this summer for a new goalkeeper.

Jose Sa has struggled this season.

The Portuguese stopper has been unable to match the standards he set last season.

Sa was excellent for Wolves in his debut campaign, and won the club’s Player of the Season award at the end.

This time around, he’s made a string or errors for Wolves.

But having said that, there have still been games where he’s come in clutch for Wolves. Former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray recently defended the 29-year-old.

But it looks as though Lopetegui may be looking to make a change.

Herrera has been with Osasuna since 2017, signing from SD Huesca. He’s gone on to make 156 appearances for the club in all competitions, keeping 53 clean sheets.

So Lopetegui may fancy bringing in a new goalkeeper this summer.

Sa has definitely fallen short of the standards he set last season, and it may well be that the manager looks to replace him given his shortcomings on the ball.

Herrera is not the first Osasuna player to be linked with Wolves in recent times.

Earlier this season there were claims that Lopetegui was interested in snapping up centre-back David Garcia.

A few weeks ago it was suggested that he will cost £17 million this summer, and would be looking for around £50,000-a-week in wages.
