Wolves transfer news: Wanderers showing interest in Joe Rodon

Wolves are reportedly interested in signing Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Wanderers are one of three teams keen on the 24-year-old centre-half.

Rodon has been with Spurs since 2020, joining from Swansea City.

Games have been hard to come by for the Wales international. So far, he’s clocked up just 24 appearances for the club. He played just 10 times in the season just gone.

Antonio Conte has shown a real reluctance to use him, with the likes of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Ben Davies all preferred.

Spurs are being linked with a number of centre-backs at the moment.

So it’s likely Rodon would struggle even more for minutes with the north Londoners.

According to Konur, Wolves, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are all showing interest in the star.

Wolves, of course, need to replace Romain Saiss, who is leaving.

Given Bruno Lage has left-footed options in Max Kilman and Toti Gomes, it is no surprise to hear Wolves could now be going in pursuit of a right-footer.

Rodon joined Spurs in a deal totalling £15 million. The player has three years left on his contract, so it would be no surprise if they wanted to recoup a similar amount to what they paid.

Wolves moving for Joe Rodon feels underwhelming

Rodon was brilliant during his time at Swansea, but hasn’t had much of a look in whilst at Tottenham.

This summer, Wolves ideally need to be signing a top level centre-half, as the cracks started to show towards the end 2021/22.

It was suggested in the last Ask Wolves series that new players are brought in on the basis that they are better than who’s already available to Lage.

It is questionable whether Rodon falls into that bracket.
