Wolves transfer news: Wanderers showing interest in Alfredo Morelos

Wolves are reportedly showing interest in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

TEAMtalk claimed yesterday that the Colombia international is attracting attention from several clubs ahead of the summer window.

It is stated that Crystal Palace are ready to make an offer for the South American.

But the star is also wanted by Sevilla and Villarreal, with Morelos’ camp having held talks with both of those clubs.

Morelos joined Rangers back in 2017 from Finnish outfit HJK.

The 26-year-old ahs clocked up 263 appearances for the Scottish giants, scoring 122 goals and making 58 assists.

While Morelos has definitely been fairly productive in the final third during his time at Ibrox, he has also been a bit of a menace.

The striker has regularly let his side down on the disciplinary front. He’s picked up 66 yellows cards and eight reds during his time at the club.

Morelos’ contract expires at the end of the season, and so the fact he won’t cost anything in terms of a transfer fee is appealing to clubs.

As well as Palace and Wolves in the Premier League, there is also interest from Aston Villa and Everton. And then Championship sides Burnley and Middesbrough also like him.

Wolves need to steer clear of Alfredo Morelos and his potential for red cards

Wolves should not be showing interest in Morelos.

Yes he’s got a good goalscoring record up in Scotland. And his assists tally also suggest he is quite creative.

But Wolves do not need to be signing a player with such a disciplinary record.

This season, Wolves have picked up the most red cards of any Premier League side with six. Although Matheus Nunes’ against Leeds was overturned.

Arguably, the Wolves players get drawn into scuffles too often and it can affect focus and application.

Morelos is a firecracker. Eight red cards since 2017 is terrible and Wanderers simply must not entertain signing him, even if he would come in as a free agent.
