Wolves are reportedly prepared to increase their offer to sign Mario Lemina from Nice.
Julen Lopetegui and the Wolves recruitment officials have had a fairly quiet transfer window so far.
The Matheus Cunha deal was all agreed before the window opened.
Since the Brazilian arrived, things have gone a little quiet.
But things are likely going on behind the scenes, and there is plenty of time left in the window. That said. it would be much better if business could be done as early as possible.
Reports have suggested that two bids have gone in for midfielder Lemina so far.
Wolves reportedly tabled an offer of around £4.4 million. They then increased that to £4.9 million.
Foot Mercato are now reporting that Wanderers are actually prepared to increase their last offer, and could go as high as £8.8 million.
Lopetegui needs reinforcements in midfield, after losing Boubacar Traore to injury recently.
The youngster could be out for up to two months. And when he comes back, he will obviously need to build his match sharpness.
So it is little wonder Lopetegui is seeking cover.
Lemina, of course, has playing in the Premier League before with Southampton and Fulham.
Wolves have been linked with the player before. Supposedly the club wanted to get him on loan in 2019 but a move never materialised.
Wolves need to get Mario Lemina deal done as soon as possible, as report claims club are ready to increase offer
Wolves appear to be really keen to get Lemina.
Between the two offers that have reportedly already gone in, and the reports of interest a few years ago, it does feel like Lemina to Molineux may only be a matter of time.
But Wolves must not drag this out.
Games are coming thick and fast and Lopetegui is starting to pick up a few injuries.
He needs some more additions, and they need to come sooner rather than later so they can bed in.
Lemina would be a decent addition. The fact he has previous Premier League experience is nice and he can perform a variety of midfield roles.
