Wolves transfer news: Wanderers linked with Rangers winger Ryan Kent

Wolves have been linked with a move for Rangers winger Ryan Kent.

According to 90min last week, the star is being targeted by a number of clubs from the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window.

Supposedly, the player’s contract expiring in the summer of 2023 is prompting a number of clubs to show interest in the 25-year-old.

Rangers don’t want to sell the former Liverpool man. But they also don’t want a situation of him running down his contract.

90min claim Leeds United, Everton, Fulham and Wolves are all keen on the ace.

Kent’s displays for Rangers in the Europa League have also led to interest from RB Leipzig.

Kent has been with Rangers now since 2018, joining from Liverpool on loan initially. The Scottish giants turned the move permanent the following year.

He cost a lot of money (£7.5 million, Sky Sports), but he has proven to be a terrific signing for the club.

He made huge contributions last season as Rangers surged to the Premiership title, scoring eight times and making nine assists.

And this term he has had some magnificent performances in the Europa League, and it’s possible he could finish the season as a winner of the competition. Rangers face Eintracht Frankfurt in the final on May 18.

Earlier in the competition, he shone again Borussia Dortmund, leading to BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves likening him to Franck Ribery (via Football Scotland).

Wolves’ interest comes amid continued speculation about the futures of Adama Traore and Francisco Trincao.

Traore won’t sign a new contract at Molineux. With his existing deal expiring next summer, it will be within Wolves’ best interests to sell this summer.

And reports have suggested Wolves aren’t going to trigger their option to buy Trincao from Barcelona.

Potential bargain to be had for Wolves with Ryan Kent, given Rangers star’s contract situation

It will be interesting to see if Wolves do make a swoop for Kent this summer.

He’s shown himself to be a quality player during his time at Ibrox.

He was always likely to shine in Scotland. Jurgen Klopp gave Kent high praise back in 2019 during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the US, saying (liverpoolfc.com): “Ryan had sensational moments in the Sevilla game – one-on-one situations are his big strength. He is a wonderful kid, a wonderful player.”

Of course, there is a big step up in standard to the Premier League, but Kent may just be ready to make a move back to England.

Given Kent’s contract is winding down, it’s possible Wolves could land a bargain here. Rangers would not want to lose him for nothing and so, there Rangers could be open to selling.
