Wolves are reportedly interested in signing goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
It was recently reported that Wolves were keen to bring in a new backup goalkeeper with a bit more experience under his belt.
Matija Sarkic is the current number two at Molineux.
He has made just two appearances so far this season. It was thought he would feature against Gillingham in the Carabao Cup, but Julen Lopetegui plumped for Sa instead.
Wolves are supposedly open to loaning Sarkic out.
If they can bring in someone to replace him, then they will consider facilitating a temporary move for the Montenegro international this month.
Gollini has previous experience of the Premier League.
He has featured for Aston Villa and most recently Tottenham Hotspur.
He is currently on loan at Fiorentina from Atalanta. But he is behind Pietro Terracciano in the pecking order, with most of his appearances this season coming in the Europa Conference League.
Fiorentina reportedly hold an option to buy the player in the summer. So any talks between Wolves and Atalanta would have to involve them too.
Pierluigi Gollini would be a positive move from Wolves as officials seek better squad balance
This is an interesting transfer link, considering Gollini is a player currently on loan at another club.
Wolves may have to jump through some hoops to make it happen, but seemingly he is someone they like.
It could be a positive move from Wolves.
Sarkic is talented and could potentially yet become the number one at Molineux. But he might just need a bit more time out on loan to refine him game and get more experience.
Gollini has played the English top-flight before, and would perhaps push Sa a bit harder.
Wolves lost a number of characters in the summer, and Gollini sounds like he’d be a good acquisition in terms of rectifying that. The Athletic reported he was a popular member of Villa’s dressing room and ‘doesn’t lack confidence’.
He apparently hit it off with Jack Grealish in particular, with the pair once attending a Justin Bieber concert.
As a goalkeeper, Breaking The Lines say that Gollini ‘can be a fantastic shot-stopper on his day’.
