Wolves are reported to have discussed a possible swoop for Barcelona starlet Ez Abde this summer.
According to a report from SPORT, Wanderers and Leeds United have both considered the Moroccan talent in potential deals involving other players.
Seemingly in the case of Wolves, that would Ruben Neves, who has been strongly linked with the Catalan giants in recent weeks.
The midfielder is expected to depart the club this summer after five years.
But Barcelona may struggle to make a straight cash bid for the 25-year-old.
It could be that they need to offer a player to Wolves to strike a deal – and Wanderers have apparently thought about Abde.
But SPORT say that Barca have already informed Abde that he will be a part of their first-team squad next season.
They don’t want to lose him, and it is suggested that he could see a fair amount of involvement if Ousmane Dembele leaves. The Frenchman’s contract is expiring this summer.
Barca are said to believe in him, and want to keep hold of him.
In April, Football Talent Scout ran a feature on Abde, likening him to Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
Their description of his play-style reads: “He is a player that likes to take on players. Abde has extraordinary dribbling ability, acceleration and sprint speed that he uses to beat defenders. Very dangerous on counter-attacks, Abde is a player that is hard to defend against due to his unpredictability and determination. Excellent body balance and footwork are one of his virtues as a winger.
Wolves need an experienced forward who can score and assists, amid links to Ez Abde
By many accounts Abde has a very bright future.
But Wolves need to be focusing on bringing players who have a bit more experience under their belt.
Wolves struggled in the final third in 2021/22.
Recruitment officials need to be signing player who is proven in terms of scoring goals and making assists.
Abde is a very promising talent, but not what Wolves really need right now.
