Wolves transfer news: Wanderers have been scouting Ben Brereton Diaz

Wolves have reportedly been scouting Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz.

According to 90min, the club have been casting their eye over the Chile international in recent weeks, amid the goalscoring issues at Molineux.

Brereton Diaz has scored nine goals in the Championship so far this season.

Rovers are under a bit of pressure heading into the January transfer window with regards to Brereton Diaz.

The player is out of contract at the end of the season. And he has apparently stated that he won’t be signing any extension with the club.

Blackburn must decide whether they want to keep Brereton Diaz for a potential promotion push, or cash in to avoid losing him for nothing.

It isn’t just Wolves that are showing interest.

Clubs to have been in attendance to watch him recently include Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Brighton.

Furthermore, Leeds, Bournemouth and Everton are all long-term admirers.

Newcastle United also showed interest in the player described as ‘an extraordinary talent’ by Tony Mowbray. Dan Ashwoth apparently called Rovers to discuss a potential deal (The Athletic). In the end though, the Magpies went ahead and signed Alexander Isak for a club-record fee.

There’s also a host of clubs from across Europe interested in signing him.

90min add that offers of around £10 million could be enough to tempt Blackburn to do business.

Brereton Diaz has been at Ewood Park since 2018, when he joined on loan from Nottingham Forest. The move was turned permanent just months later.

His first few seasons were a struggle. But he exploded into life last season by finishing the campaign with 22 goals across all competitions.

It is not the first time Wolves have been linked with a move for Brereton Diaz. Interest in him was claimed ahead of the last summer window.

Ben Brereton Diaz could be a great January addition for Wolves

Potentially Wolves could get themselves a real bargain with Brereton Diaz in January.

The star has been in fine fettle for Blackburn for some time now, and has developed into a very accomplished centre-forward in the English second tier.

The Premier League is obviously a big jump in standard. And it would be a risk to move for someone who has no experience of the division.

But the situation with his contract does add to the appeal.

Wolves simply must add another striker to the squad in January given the injury to Sasa Kalajdzic and fitness issues of Raul Jimenez.

Diego Costa was brought in, but his age will mean he can’t be relied upon every game.
