Wolves transfer news: Wanderers eye Arthur Melo

Wolves are now being linked with a move for Arthur Melo, despite his forgettable loan spell with Liverpool.

Wanderers’ pre-season has now commenced, and there still haven’t been any incomings.

Wolves have been busy offloading players so far.

Ruben Neves was the first to depart. And centre-backs Conor Coady and Nathan Collins have both followed out the door.

Links to players coming in have been few and far between. But fans can now sink their teeth into a new claim that Arthur could be Molineux-bound.

Arthur spent last season on loan at Liverpool, but made just one appearance for the Reds after undergoing surgery early in the season. That was just a 13-minute cameo against Napoli in a Champions League group stage match.

Wolves interested in Arthur Melo despite injury-hit campaign with Liverpool

It is being claimed by Mundo Deportivo that Wolves could now swoop for Brazilian midfielder Arthur.

The publication touches on the recent interest of Unai Emery and Aston Villa.

But they say that Wolves are a new team in the mix, stating Julen Lopetegui’s side are ‘more than interested’.

Supposedly, Lopetegui is interested in Arthur and rates his ball-playing ability.

If any move was to come to fruition, then it would have to be a loan move according to Mundo.

Arthur currently has two years remaining on his contract at Juventus.

Wolves making move for Arthur Melo would be a big risk after last season

It is very surprising to be reading about interest from Wolves in Arthur.

He had a nightmare last season with injury. Although he actually did get back fit again just before the World Cup.

But Jurgen Klopp seemed completely reluctant to give him minutes.

The South American didn’t play in the Premier League once, making just a handful of matchday squads after he got back fit again.

This would be a risky move by Wolves.

The 26-year-old may have impressed in the past. But he has seen very little football lately and Wolves need players who can hit the ground running straight away ideally.

Perhaps there is a temptation though, given the fact this would be a loan move and Wolves are still under financial pressure.
