Wolves transfer news: Wanderers eye Arjan Raikhy after Aston Villa release

Wolves are reportedly weighing up a move for Arjan Raikhy, who has just been released by Aston Villa.

According to the Daily Mail (via the Leicester Mercury), Wanderers are interested in snapping up the youngster for their academy.

But Wolves are not alone in wanting Raikhy.

Leicester City, who have just suffered relegation to the Championship, are also looking to land Raikhy.

The 20-year-old has actually just recently been on trial with the Foxes. So they will be hopeful of signing him as one of their own.

Leicester have made a habit of signing young players from Villa over the years. Were Raikhy to join, he would follow in the footsteps of Paul Appiah, Lewis Brunt, Mitch Clark and Viktor Johansson.

Before that though, Raikhy had spent the season with Villa’s U21s, after loan spells with Stockport County and Grimsby Town.

When on trial with Leicester, he played in the Foxes’ penultimate game of the season, which was a 2-2 draw away at Man United.

According to Villa’s official website, FA Youth Cup winner Raikhy is a ‘a technically gifted midfielder’.

He has actually played for Villa’s first-team on one previous occasion.

And that was against Liverpool in January 2021 in the third round of the FA Cup, when a Coronavirus outbreak had affected a large number of first-team players.

Villa were forced to name a hugely inexperienced team, and got beaten 4-1.
