Wolves transfer news: Wanderers and Tottenham in battle over Denmark international

Wolves are reportedly battling Tottenham Hotspur to sign Denmark international Victor Nelsson.

According to Ekstrabladet, Wolves are now on an urgent hunt for a new central defender following the sale of Nathan Collins.

Collins departed recently to join Brentford for £23 million.

Currently, Julen Lopetegui is down to just three centre-back options, after Conor Coady was also sold to Leicester City.

And apparently the club are now taking a look at Nelsson, who plies his trade in Turkey with Galatasaray.

Wolves interested in Victor Nelsson but face Tottenham competition

Wolves are said to be keen on Nelsson, who has 10 caps for Denmark.

According to Ekstrabladet, Nelson has just delivered a ‘magnificent season’ with Galatasaray.

He was a regular at the heart of the defence, and helped his side win the Super Lig title. Gala finished the season with the best defensive record, conceding just 27 goals in 36 games.

Nelsson has actually been on Wolves’ transfer radar before.

Last summer, Wolves apparently asked Gala about a potential £20 million deal for Nelsson. This was as Willy Boly was being linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

Now Nelsson is seemingly back on Wolves’ radar.

But the issue for Wolves is that Ekstrabladet state in their report that the Dane prefers a move to Spurs.

Victor Nelsson would be a solid signing for Wolves

So Wolves are again looking at potentially signing Nelsson.

And he really would make for a cracking addition.

He was a rock for Gala last season as they claimed the league title.

His WhoScored statistics indicate that he is dominant in the air, averaging 3.2 aerial duel wins per 90. He’s also someone who rid is regularly on hand to get rid of danger, as evidenced by the 3.3 clearances per 90 he made last term.

He’s also great in possession, averaging a pass completion rate of 85.7%.

Hopefully Wolves can somehow can convince the player that a move to Molineux would be better than a move to Spurs.
