Wolves transfer news: Viktor Gyokeres move now appears very unlikely, he’s choosing between two other clubs

Wolves moving for Viktor Gyokeres this summer now appears quite unlikely.

The Sweden international has supposedly been on Wanderers’ transfer radar for a while.

The club apparently considered moving for him in January. But ultimately, the decision was made to press ahead with Raul Jimenez, Diego Costa and new signing Matheus Cunha.

But just recently, there were claims that Wolves were still interested in Gyokeres ahead of the summer.

But today, two reports have dropped which point to Wolves moving for Gyokeres as very unlikely.

Wolves moving for Viktor Gyokeres is surely now unlikely

According to the Telegraph, Wolves are going to be targeting players in the £8-15 million range this summer.

Given the concerns about FFP, Wolves just aren’t in a position to be splashing a lot of money on one single player.

It has previously been reported that Coventry City value Gyokeres about £25 million. So that is the first suggestion Gyokeres likely won’t become a Wolves player.

This morning there was also an interesting claim from Portuguese outlet A Bola.

They’ve said that Sporting CP are very well positioned over Gyokeres, who has rejected some proposals from Premier League clubs already.

They actually say that there are now just two clubs Gyokeres is considering joining this summer – Sporting and Everton.

Wolves signing Viktor Gyokeres is starting to feel very unlikely

Given these two reports, a move for Gyokeres by Wolves is surely now unlikely.

Gyokeres has just finished a great season with Coventry that saw him score 22 goals. He looks to be a cracking all-round number nine.

So claims of a £25 million asking price don’t feel very far out.

If we are to believe Wolves are looking at players in the £8-15 million range, then this obviously means Gyokeres would be unattainable.

Then you’ve got A Bola suggesting Sporting are in the driving seat to sign the 24-year-old. This follows another claim that they were prioritising a move for him.

All things considering, it would be a major surprise at this point if Gyokeres came to Molineux.

This might just mean that Julen Lopetegui puts his faith in Fabio Silva.

The manager also has Sasa Kalajdzic to bring back into the fold.
