Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly still confident of sealing a move for Adama Traore, despite now apparently entering the race for Porto hotshot Luis Diaz.
According to The Telegraph, Spurs are now in for the attacker, who is having a stormer of a season in the Portuguese league.
Diaz has scored 16 goals so far, and also laid on six assists.
Naturally, he’s been linked with an exit from Porto in recent weeks. But it seems Tottenham are now keen to land him.
A number of Wolves fans have caught wind of this development on social media.
With Diaz predominantly playing as a winger, some have suggested – perhaps out of hope – that Spurs may well now be looking at other options to Traore.
But the Telegraph say in the same report that Spurs are still confident of landing the Spaniard.
The club are said to be ‘increasingly optimistic’ that a deal can be reached with Wolves for the player’s transfer before the end of the month.
Spurs have previously failed with as £15 million bid. According to Sky Sports, Wolves now value Traore at £25 million.
Adama Traore still looking likely to depart Wolves, as January window nears its end
So it seems that Tottenham’s interest in Diaz doesn’t really mean they have abandoned their pursuit of Traore.
It is worth noting that this report also pushes the line that Antonio Conte plans to convert the 26-year-old into a right wing-back.
Seemingly, Spurs are ready to back Conte and are looking to get both players.
It is not out of the question that Wolves could still keep Traore.
With Wolves potentially looking at pushing for European football, officials may feel there is actually more value in keep him for the next few months.
