Wolves transfer news: Sevilla interested in Rayan Ait-Nouri

Sevilla reportedly hold an interest in Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

According to L’Equipe, the Spanish outfit are ‘particularly keen’ on the 21-year-old, who has lost his starting berth in recent times at Molineux.

Ait-Nouri was set to become Wolves’ number choice following the summer departure of Fernando Marcal.

He did start the campaign in favour, although Jonny Castro Otto did play on the left on occasion.

But in October, Hugo Bueno emerged as a genuine first-team option when Steve Davis gave him his debut against Nottingham Forest.

Bueno then made his full debut days later in the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace. Ait-Nouri was unavailable to face the Eagles due to illness.

Bueno has started every Premier League since then, meaning Ait-Nouri has had to make do with substitute appearances.

As a result of slipping down the pecking order, there have been some reports about other clubs being interested.

Recently, Nice and Juventus were said to be taking a look.

But now, L’Equipe are saying Sevilla are interested.

Julen Lopetegui’s former club are apparently in the frame, and it is stated that the player’s entourage has ‘opened the door to an exit’.

Wolves must tell Sevilla where to go, Ait-Nouri will be key moving forwards

Any notion of Lopetegui doing his former club a favour here needs quashing.

Ait-Nouri may currently be behind Bueno at Wolves, but the club should absolutely not be sanctioning any exit this month.

Ait-Nouri has shown in recent games that he can have a big impact for Wanderers.

The £10 million star came on against Gillingham and Everton, scoring against both, and he also looked quite good against Manchester United.

He could soon reclaim his place in the starting XI.

It would just be a ludicrous decision to offload him.
