Wolves youngster Ryan Giles is reportedly heading for a medical at Blackburn Rovers ahead of a late deadline day move.
The 22-year-old was reported to be of interest to the Championship side yesterday.
Giles was recently recalled by Wolves from his loan spell at Cardiff City.
He had enjoyed a really good start to the 2021/22 season, making 21 appearances for the Bluebirds.
Impressively, Giles left having made nine assists.
There was potential for Giles to return to the Welsh club.
But it seems Cardiff won’t be getting him back, with Blackburn now very much in the driving seat.
The promotion-chasers are looking to wrap up a loan deal before tonight’s deadline.
According to Tim Spiers, the wing-back is now heading to Ewood Park for a medical. The journalist adds that there will be no option to buy for Rovers, with Bruno Lage having been impressed by the youngster.
Lage wants Giles to return to Wolves in the summer and fight for a first-team place ahead of 2022/23.
A potentially great move for Ryan Giles as star travels for Blackburn medical
It is good to see Giles heading back out on loan. He needs to play.
He was doing really well with Cardiff before his recall. Wolves took the decision to provide a bit more cover, which is understandable.
The club are doing the right thing letting him go out again.
And Blackburn could be a great move for him. They’re looking to gain promotion back to the Premier League, which would be fantastic for Giles to be a part of.
Blackburn are the second-highest scorers in the division. And they have a fantastic striker in Ben Brereton Diaz, who could relish getting on the end of some of Giles’ crosses.
