Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has reportedly informed club officials that he does wish to explore other options and potentially leave this summer.
90min have provided an update on the situation and have claimed the star has now made it known that he is ready to leave.
The 25-year-old’s future has been the subject of speculation for some time now.
It was bound to be, given how well he played this season.
The maestro has easily been one of Wolves’ best performers, taking his game to a new level under Bruno Lage.
This summer will mark five years of Neves at Molineux.
He joined the club in the summer of 2017 from FC Porto, having captained them in the Champions League.
He has given tremendous service to the club, and blossomed into one of the finest players in the Premier League.
It is no surprise that interest in the player is high.
Wolves are hopeful of agreeing a new deal with Neves. He currently has two years left on his existing contract.
But the club may well struggle to do that, as he has supposedly stated his intention to explore other options.
A hammer blow for Wolves as Ruben Neves communicates openness to leave Wolves
This update is a worry, and it suggests the player could well be moving on to pastures new.
But Neves cannot really be blamed.
He has given so much for the club and he undoubtedly has the ability to be playing for a Champions League club. He spoke about his desire to return to that particular competition earlier this year.
One would imagine that Wolves will grant him a move, should a suitable offer arrive for him.
And given his class, it would be no surprise if one came in fairly early.
