Real Madrid are reportedly set to submit an opening bid for Gabriel Slonina, who is said to be on the radar of Wolves.
Fabrizio Romano reports this evening that the 2022 Champions League winners are ready to test Chicago Fire’s resolve over the 18-year-old.
Supposedly, the MLS outfit are expecting the offer to arrive ‘soon’.
It was reported just last week that Wolves are working on a deal of their own to sign Slonina.
Apparently, Wanderers are hopeful of doing a deal for around £3 million.
The publication did state that a few European heavyweights were keen. As well as Real Madrid and Wolves, Chelsea and Bayern Munich were also mentioned.
Wolves are hoping to beat the competition by offering a genuine pathway to first-team football.
The club may now need to get a move on, with Real Madrid ready to bid for the talented teenager.
Wolves up against it with Real Madrid set to bid for Gabriel Slonina
If Wolves are serious about signing Slonina then they will now have to really ramp up their efforts.
Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world, and they have just won the Champions League for a 14th time.
It’s probable Slonina will be very tempted to join them.
But Wolves do have a good record with handing young players chances in recent times.
Granted, Slonina is a goalkeeper and Molineux number one Jose Sa is firmly established.
But so is Thibaut Courtois at Madrid, and Edouard Mendy at Chelsea.
Wolves should not admit defeat just yet.
