Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri could potentially be loaned out in January, if Marcos Acuna completes a move to Molineux.
Ait-Nouri recently switched his nationality to Algerian.
The youngster will now play international football for the African nation, despite representing France at youth level.
But there is a feeling that Ait-Nouri’s journey to playing for the Algeria national team could be a bumpy one.
The two publications note that Ait-Nouri is not playing for Wolves at the moment.
The 21-year-old has struggled to really nail down a starting spot this season.
In the early stages of the season, he was battling with Jonny Castro Otto for minutes. But recently, Hugo Bueno has emerged for Wanderers and made the left-back spot his own.
When Ait-Nouri couldn’t play against Crystal Palace on October 18 due to illness, Bueno stepped in and seized his chance. The Spaniard has started every Premier League game since.
It is now suggested that Ait-Nouri could head out on loan somewhere, with Julen Lopetegui reportedly keen to bring in Marcos Acuna.
Acuna is a player he worked with at Sevilla, and someone he knows quite well.
The star has been impressing for Argentina at the World Cup, and it’s possible he could come in next month.
And if that was to happen, it wouldn’t be good news for Ait-Nouri.
fennecfootball.com suggest that Lopetegui would be open to sending Ait-Nouri out on loan if Acuna did move to Molineux.
Rayan Ait-Nouri heading out on loan in January would be a real surprise
If you would have asked any Wolves fan before a ball was kicked this season if there was a chance Ait-Nouri could leave the club in January, most would have laughed.
Ait-Nouri is one of the brightest prospects in Wolves’ squad.
But the picture has changed in recent times.
Ait-Nouri is now behind Bueno in the pecking order, and the Spaniard’s form has genuinely been really impressive.
Ait-Nouri and Bueno are of a similar profile, and Lopetegui seemingly feels he doesn’t need both with the links to Acuna.
It will certainly be very interesting to see what happens if Acuna does join Wolves.
Even though he isn’t playing right now, Ait-Nouri heading out on loan would still come as a big surprise given his potential.
