Previous Wolves transfer target Sven Botman is reportedly set to join AC Milan this summer.
According to a report from Gazetta dello Sport, the player has verbally agreed to make a move to the Italian giants this summer.
Botman was heavily linked with an exit from Lille in January.
Ultimately, the French club were able to retain him as they seek to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
There was no move from Wolves last month for Botman which disappointed some fans.
Wanderers were strongly linked with Botman during the last summer window.
The club were linked right up until deadline day, but a move did not come to fruition.
The player was open to a move, but an agreement between the clubs couldn’t be reached.
Jeff Shi later stated that ‘budget wasn’t an issue’ for the club, which was difficult to accept given Botman’s clear quality and potential.
And those hoping that Wolves might make a fresh swoop for Botman this summer could potentially be set for disappointment.
It seems Botman has his sights set on Milan, who are currently challenging for the Serie A title.
Wolves might have missed their chance to sign Sven Botman
So it looks as though Botman might be ready to make a move to Italy.
Milan are fighting for the Scudetto right now, and appear to be back on track after years in the wilderness.
They remain a massive European club and it’s understandable Botman would like the idea of playing for the Rossoneri. Especially if they’re being competitive again.
For Wolves, it is looking like the club have missed the boat.
The claim is that it’s a verbal agreement which means nothing is set in stone.
However, it does perhaps provide an indication of where the player’s head is at.
Time will tell if the game is finally up for Wolves with Botman.
