Wolves transfer news: Ounahi prefers move to Serie A

Wolves have potentially been dealt a transfer blow, with World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi reportedly preferring a move to Serie A.

There is currently a big battle going on over the 22-year-old, who was sensational for Morocco in Qatar.

Ounahi impressed pretty much every single game for the eventual semi-finalists.

He shone alongside Sofyan Amrabat in midfield.

He drew praise from the likes of Luis Enrique and Jose Mourinho for his impressive displays. The Special One called him ‘absolutely incredible’.

And during the tournament and since it ended, transfer speculation has been rife about the youngster.

Wolves were actually linked with the star earlier this month.

But Wanderers’ luck may not be in, because Foot Mercato are reporting this evening that the Angers maestro would prefer to make a move to Serie A.

They say that the current league leaders Napoli are in pole position at the moment.

There is also interest from Inter Milan.

Angers’ president recently suggested that the club would be open to doing business in January over Ounahi. Despite being bottom of Ligue 1, they are looking to cash in on him off the back of the World Cup.

Ounahi is thought to be valued somewhere around the £39 million mark.

Blow for Wolves as report claims Azzedine Ounahi wants Serie A move

It would have been very difficult for Wolves to sign Ounahi anyway, given the sheer amount of interest in him.

But it looks as though a potential move for him is even more unlikely now.

Napoli probably stand a very good chance of landing him.

They are absolutely flying at the moment and are playing some of the best football in Europe.

They’re a side that has a lot of the ball in games and Ounahi could thrive in their team.
