Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha reportedly missed training yesterday, amid reports of an imminent move to Wolves.
The star has been the subject of talks between the two clubs for the past few days.
Wolves are keen to sign the 23-year-old to try and boost their attacking output.
Cunha has been told by Atleti officials that he can leave the club. He is currently not in favour at the Wanda Metropolitano.
It has been reported that he would be keen to work with Julen Lopetegui.
Journalist Pedro Morata claimed that a deal for Cunha and also centre-back Felipe could be wrapped up later this week.
And now, AS have reported that Cunha actually missed training yesterday.
The publication say he is one step away from joining Wolves, and the reason he did not train was to avoid him potentially getting injured and scuppering the move.
Wolves fans will be hoping that a deal can now be wrapped up as soon as possible.
Ideally, Wanderers will get all their business done nice and early, so Lopetegui and the players can focus on the job at hand.
Good news for Wolves as Matheus Cunha reportedly skips Atletico training
So Cunha did not participate in training yesterday amid this proposed move to Wolves.
If AS’ claims are accurate, then it might not be too long now before Wolves get their man.
Players not training with their clubs amid speculation of a move tends to mean that something is in the offing.
It has been reported that Atletico want to cash in on the player, so it makes sense that they permitted him to miss training.
If they need the sale, then they wouldn’t want some kind of freak injury happening and ruining everything.
