Wolves transfer news: Matheus Cunha has other Premier League clubs interested in him

Wolves are facing potential competition for Matheus Cunha, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that other Premier League clubs are keen on the striker.

Wanderers have become linked with the 23-year-old in recent days, with Julen Lopetegui already having one eye on the January transfer window.

Lopetegui is keen to strengthen the squad following the club’s poor start.

He’s got to pick up the pieces after Bruno Lage oversaw some awful performances and results until his sacking at the start of October.

Wolves are already being linked to players, and Cunha is a target.

Wolves and Atletico Madrid are in talks about a potential deal, with defender Felipe also being mentioned as a potential incoming at Molineux.

Journalist Romano said yesterday that there are just talks at the moment.

But he’s brought another update this morning, stating that negotiations will continue between the two clubs over the two players.

In the case of Cunha, Romano says that there are other clubs keen to sign the Brazilian.

He stops short of naming these clubs, but does say that Wolves want to be fast to avoid losing out.

Cunha joined Atleti in the summer of 2021 from Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin. He has since made 54 appearances for the Spanish club, scoring seven goals.

Time is of the essence for Wolves as other Premier League clubs lurk over Matheus Cunha

So it looks as though Wolves may not have it straightforward regarding Cunha.

It is perhaps no surprise that other clubs are keen to sign the South American. Despite his lack of game time for Atleti, he is still a really talented player, capable of playing anywhere in attack.

Wolves’ position in the Premier League table might make things difficult in January in terms of convincing players to join.

But Lopetegui is a top coach and will have decent pulling power.

Hopefully, Cunha is intrigued by the possibility of working with him and will be able to overlook Wolves’ poor start to the season.
