Wolves may have a battle on their hands to keep Matheus Nunes in the summer, with Liverpool and Chelsea both eyeing a move.
The midfielder only joined Wolves last summer, but is already being lined up for a transfer.
Nunes took some time to get used to the Premier League.
But in recent weeks he has really stepped up his game, and showed what all the fuss was about in the summer.
His increase in performance came after the player admitted he had been below par before the World Cup.
Nunes is reportedly now a target for both Liverpool and Chelsea. He won’t be moving on in the coming days, but the two clubs have interest in signing him in the summer.
According to The Telegraph, the Blues are ready to compete with Liverpool for the 24-year-old. He has admirers at Stamford Bridge.
N’Golo Kante has had injury problems this season and is probably no longer the same player he was a couple of seasons ago. And Jorginho is out of contract in the summer.
Liverpool have been crying out for new midfielders since the start of the season. They had come close to signing Nunes before Wolves, but a deal didn’t go through.
The Telegraph add that Nunes is expected to cost at least £55 million.
Ideally Wolves will keep Matheus Nunes, but Chelsea interest is good news if not
It would be brilliant if Wolves were able to stay in the Premier League and keep Nunes beyond the summer.
He’s an amazing player, and there aren’t many others about that can do what he does.
Realistically, it’s going to be hard for Wolves to keep him. There were reports about him moving on after one season shortly after he joined.
So if he is to move on this summer, then Chelsea being interested can only be a good thing.
This increases the chances of Wolves making a big profit on the player.
Chelsea have been spending wildly since Todd Boehly acquired the club. There’s a good chance they’ll be prepared to fork out a lot of money for Nunes to beat Liverpool.
