Wolves have recently been linked with Riqui Puig, but the Barcelona midfielder has now emerged as a loan target for Lazio.
According to SPORT, the Spaniard is one of several players at the Nou Camp who will have to leave this summer.
He is not in the plans of manager Xavi, and the club are looking to offload him.
The giants are keen to find him a club where he is going to play regular football and continue his development.
He’s apparently had interest from Valencia.
But according to SPORT, Lazio are now keen on the 22-year-old.
The Serie A club are said to be wanting to sign ‘ an offensive midfielder with a very technical and dynamic profile’. And Puig seemingly fits the bill.
The news comes after Wolves were linked with Puig last month.
The Catalan giants were reportedly prepared to offer Puig as part of a deal to sign Ruben Neves.
Sport also reported interest from Wolves back in March.
But Wolves are now facing competition from Lazio, if they still retain an interest in the talented youngster.
At the end of their report, Sport say Lazio have ‘arrived at the offices of Barca’. So it seems they are ready to step up their pursuit.
Clock is ticking for Wolves if the club want to act on any interest in Riqui Puig
If Wolves have any lingering interest in Puig, then it the club may need to move now to avoid missing out.
Lazio seem to be very keen on him and could be about to accelerate their pursuit.
Perhaps he is a player Wolves could actually sign right now if they tried.
The word from SPORT is that Barcelona are looking to loan him out.
So with Wolves having taken Francisco Trincao last year, maybe the club would be willing to negotiate with Wanderers over Puig.
