Wolves transfer news: Jose Sa admired by other clubs ahead of summer window

Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa is apparently attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Sa has had a fairly disappointing second campaign at Molineux.

While he has still had some great games, the consistency hasn’t really been there as it was last term.

Sa has made a number of errors, and also looked a little shaky in possession of the ball.

It was always going to be difficult for him to match the level he showed last season, when he seemed to be unbeatable at times.

But Sa has fallen well short of those standards.

Julen Lopetegui has given Dan Bentley a chance in the last two games, and has impressed.

Whether he’ll have done enough to start next season as the number one remains to be seen. But he is definitely giving Sa a strong push.

The Daily Mail are now reporting that Sa is actually ‘admired’ by other clubs ahead of the next window.

He is one of a few players mentioned in the report as a possible outgoing this summer, with Wolves needing to sell players.

The club have FFP concerns and apparently need to balance the books.

Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence and Max Kilman could also be offloaded.

Wolves signed Sa for just under £7 million. They would like to hope he’d sell for a fair bit more than that, despite his patchy form in 2022/23.

Jose Sa could very easily be sold by Wolves this summer, amid FFP concerns

So Sa is seemingly attracting interest ahead of the summer window, which Wolves officials may be pleased about.

If the plan is to sell him, then they will want as many clubs in for him as possible.

Even before the claims about the FFP concerns, Sa was somebody who was the topic of debate for some Wolves fans.

Some had wondered if he was the right man for Lopetegui given the style he wants to implement at Molineux. Lopetegui did recently issue a subtle warning to Sa that his past form and achievements at Wolves didn’t really matter.

The head coach is keen for Wanderers to build attacks from the back, and Sa is not the best on the ball.

But he is one brilliant shot stopper, and does dominate his area quite well. His sweeping is also pretty good.

It is understandable other clubs are keen, and it remains to be seen if he can fetch Wolves a decent fee this summer.
