Wolves transfer news: Hearts leading race for Connor Ronan

Wolves midfielder Connor Ronan could be bound for Hearts this summer, with the Jambos now leading the race to sign him.

According to the Daily Record, the Edinburgh club – who will play in either the Europa League or the Europa Conference League next term (dependent on play-off result) – have stolen a march in the hunt for the 24-year-old, as they seek to strengthen ahead of 2022/23.

Ronan has just enjoyed the best loan spell of his career so far at St Mirren.

The ace was a regular for the Buddies, making 30 appearances across all competitions and scoring eight goals and notching five assists.

His great season culminated in him scooping three end-of-season awards; Player of the Year and Social Media Player of the Year and Goal of the Season.

Supposedly, several clubs are interested in signing Ronan. It was recently claimed that Hearts, St Mirren, Aberdeen, Hibernian and St. Pauli were all keen.

There is a feeling that Ronan could be sold this summer.

That’s despite senior staff and Bruno Lage admiring the midfielder.

It was stated by The Athletic recently that any decision to sell Ronan would see the club insert a sell-on clause.

According to the Daily Record, it’s Hearts who are currently in pole position to land Ronan.

But it remains to be seen if St Mirren will put a fight to re-sign a player who did so well for them in 2021/22.

Hearts leading charge for Connor Ronan, and Wolves can make good money

So it seems a move to Tynecastle could be on the cards for Ronan this summer.

But given there have been reports about several other clubs having an interest in the player, it’s possible Ronan could end up making Wanderers a good amount of money.

Given the season he has just had, Wolves are in a good position.

Ronan has proven himself very capable in the Scottish Premiership, and would make for a great buy for Hearts, who were on the receiving end of a wonder goal from the star back in March.
