Goncalo Guedes is said to be in Bruno Lage’s sights, and the player could cost just £17 million this summer.
The Portuguese forward is enjoying a terrific season over in Spain with Valencia.
So far this term, Guedes has 13 goals in 33 appearances. He’s also laid on five assists.
His future is the subject of interest because he’ll only have one year left on his contract this summer.
It is therefore a good time for Valencia to sell if they feel he won’t extend.
There were reports earlier this week that the Spanish giants were hopeful of recouping what they paid for Guedes when they signed him from Paris Saint-Germain.
They supposedly paid around £34 million back in 2018 following a successful loan spell.
But now, Portuguese outlet Jornal de Noticias have made a rather different claim.
They say the asking price for Guedes is actually no more than £17 million.
That is considerably less than what Valencia paid for the star, but probably more realistic given he’ll only have a year left on his contract.
Wolves should sign Guedes who could be their next Diogo Jota
Wolves should be all over Guedes is he’s being priced up at £17 million.
Potentially, Wolves could have their next Diogo Jota if they brought him in.
Guedes is really versatile and can play anywhere across a front line. But he seems to have found real success playing through the middle, which is exactly what Jota has done at Liverpool. He also played through the middle on occasion during his time at Molineux.
Wolves undoubtedly need to start think about life after Raul Jimenez.
The Mexico international turns 31 next month and like it or not, Wanderers do need a long-term replacement.
Fabio Silva is showing encouraging signs, but Wolves do need another option. Guedes could be an ideal addition as someone with a decent amount of experience now.
