Wolves are set to miss out on another transfer target, with Flynn Downes set for a medical with West Ham United.
According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, the midfielder is poised to join the Hammers, with a £12 million deal in the pipeline.
Downes has only been at the Liberty Stadium for a year, after moving there from Ipswich Town in 2021.
But he enjoyed a brilliant 2021/22 for the Swans, making 39 appearances across all competitions.
Downes recorded a pass accuracy of 92.6% in the Championship last season, which was the best of any player in the entire division.
His wonderful term has led to a number of teams taking an interest in him over the past few weeks.
And recently, Wolves were named as one of the sides keen on signing him.
Many Wanderers fans are hoping to see the arrival of a new midfielder this summer, but it has been a frustrating past few weeks.
And it looks as though Wolves are now going to miss out on another player, with Downes ready to complete a move to the London Stadium.
He would become their third summer signing after Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola.
Another transfer target goes begging for Wolves as Flynn Downes prepares to make West Ham move
Joao Palhinha has already joined Fulham. And there have been reports Chelsea could now move for Matheus Nunes.
And now it looks as though Downes will become a West Ham player.
The news will only increase frustrations within the Wolves fanbase, with pre-season having now commenced.
It is unclear if Wanderers came particularly close to signing Downes.
But it is a case of another linked player making a move elsewhere, and it will do little to improve the mood of many Wolves fans right now.
